This is the first glimpse at the larger cover screen on the Galaxy Z Flip 5

This year, Samsung will introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 to its foldable smartphone lineup. Both versions will undoubtedly improve upon the prior iteration in key ways, such as the rumored waterdrop hinge that will enable Samsung’s foldable phones to fully close without a chink in the middle. The cover screen size of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to significantly increase, according to reports.

The top screen size increased from 1.1 inches on the original Z Flip model to 1.9 inches on the Z Flip 3 and Z Flip 4 that followed. Although it wasn’t a big improvement, it did make the cover screen usable, which wasn’t the case with the original Galaxy Z Flip. When compared to the Z Flip 4, the top screen on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be enormous. The latest rumor about the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s exterior display came with concept images and video that, according to the leakster (SuperRoader), reveal a Z Flip 5 design that is “200000% real.

” Our sources have verified that the idea was fairly on target with its depiction of the larger, irregularly shaped outer screen, and we now have our own mockup based on the actual design to show you. The Z Flip 5’s outer display will nearly fill its entire surface, letting us do more without having to open the phone. While the bigger outer screen will undoubtedly come in handy for taking high-quality selfies with the rear cameras, it should also make other functions, such as checking notifications and responding to messages, more manageable.

Whether or not Samsung will allow full program functionality on the cover display (as is possible with the Motorola RAZR) and the precise dimensions of the cover screen remain to be seen. We’ve been informed it will be between 3 and 4 inches; judging from the size of the Galaxy Z Flip 4, our best guess would put it closer to the lower end of that range. Not much is known about any potential updates to the primary foldable display. Again, nothing can be said for sure at this point, but a waterdrop hinge should help hide the fold. But hey, this is Samsung we’re talking about, so don’t worry, as more rumors and leaks make their way online, we should soon see the gaps in our knowledge of the Z Flip 5’s specifications and features begin to fill, so remain tuned!
