The merciless Apple rumor mill may have just made the long-awaited iPhone SE 4 rumor worse.

Despite prior forecasts that the fourth-generation iPhone SE will be released in 2025, seasoned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo now says(opens in new tab) that the smartphone “is not currently part of Apple’s new product planning” for the next two years.

Kuo subsequently tweeted(opens in new tab) that he thinks any currently-in-production iPhone SE 4 devices are engineering prototypes for Apple’s 5G development, throwing doubt on his own claims about the iPhone SE 4’s closeness to the iPhone 14.

This is upsetting for iPhone SE fans, but those hoping for a new, affordable iPhone have likely become accustomed to the iPhone SE 4 merry-go-round.

A few months ago, analysts said Apple had scrapped plans for a fourth-generation iPhone SE due to concerns about its acceptance and financial feasibility.
